Frequently Asked Questions
General information
What is DraftPilot?
DraftPilot is an AI-powered contract review tool that integrates with Microsoft Word. Lawyers using the tool typically save 50-80% of time on creating mark-ups while improving their contract review quality. The tool requires minimal onboarding (it's plug-and-play) and can be used immediately.
How does DraftPilot stand out from other contract review tools?
DraftPilot stands out as the most user-friendly and intuitive AI redline tool. It works directly within Microsoft Word and is in tune with how lawyers normally work. DraftPilot requires no extensive training (watching a 10 min video is enough), setup or customization. Our AI is specifically trained for legal contract review, providing precise redlines and clause drafting. DraftPilot also enables rapid playbook creation from existing templates or by just asking the AI to create a draft playbook based on the contract type. This means you don't need to spend weeks on creating the playbooks.
How does the Microsoft Word integration work?
DraftPilot installs as a Word add-in, available through the Microsoft App Store or through central IT deployment. Users can access it from the Word ribbon to analyze text and see suggestions with tracked changes in real-time.
Can I customize DraftPilot to my organization's needs?
Yes. You can either:
- Edit the provided library of template playbooks (expanded monthly)
- Create custom playbooks using AI analysis of your existing contract templates
- Generate new playbooks using AI for specific contract types
What types of contracts can DraftPilot review?
DraftPilot can review any type of contract, though it performs best with documents under 50 pages. It supports all languages, though the interface remains in English.
Will counterparties know I used DraftPilot?
No. All suggestions appear under your Microsoft Office account username, and playbooks remain private.
Artificial intelligence
What AI does DraftPilot use?

DraftPilot can suggest redlines to existing clauses, draft new clauses when missing, draft justifications (i.e. Word comment bubbles), fallbacks, summaries, playbooks and incorporate your preferred language from playbooks.
