Create and use Saved Prompts

Last updated: 2 October 2026

A saved prompt turns a task you regularly perform in AI Chat into a repeatable workflow. You write and test the instructions once, then run the same task from the Prompt Library whenever you need it.

Saved Prompts can help you get more consistent results and reduce the time spent setting up repeated work. Common examples include extracting information, preparing a contract summary, drafting an email or identifying specific issues in a contract.

Use a prompt from the Prompt Library

Open AI Chat and go to the Prompt Library. The library contains:

  • suggested DraftPilot prompts;
  • prompts shared with your team; and
  • your personal prompts.

Select the prompt you want and send it to the chat. The instructions are already included, so you do not need to explain the task again. If DraftPilot needs information that the prompt does not provide, it can ask you a follow-up question.

The video uses a suggested prompt for identifying high-risk contract terms. DraftPilot identifies the issues, links each result to the relevant part of the contract and provides drafting or negotiation suggestions.

Create your own Saved Prompt

  1. Open the Prompt Library and select Create New Prompt.
  2. Give the prompt a clear name.
  3. Add a shortcut if you want to open it quickly.
  4. Enter the prompt instructions.
  5. Upload any reference documents that the workflow should use each time.
  6. Choose whether the prompt is personal or shared with your team.

The instructions should explain:

  • what DraftPilot should do;
  • how it should approach the task; and
  • what the final output should look like.

Use a personal prompt for work that is specific to you. Use a team prompt for an approved workflow that other people should follow.

Ask AI Chat to help write the prompt

If you do not have a finished set of instructions, describe the recurring task in AI Chat and ask it to draft the prompt.

In the video, the recurring task compares a contract with executed agreements to show where the organisation previously accepted different positions. AI Chat drafts the prompt, which is then tested in a new chat with the agreements attached.

The test produces a table comparing the issues across the executed contracts and offers drafting suggestions for the strongest positions.

Test before saving

Run the prompt with representative documents before adding it to the library. Check whether it:

  • uses the right source documents;
  • asks for missing information;
  • produces the expected output; and
  • stays within the intended scope.

Refine the instructions until the output matches the intended workflow. Then save the prompt as personal or team-level content. Open Manage Prompts when you need to edit it later.
