Use AI Chat

Last updated: 2 October 2026

AI Chat lets you ask questions about documents, request structured analysis, generate or revise drafting and research legal issues. You can use it in Word or in the browser.

Give AI Chat the right context

Before sending a request, tell DraftPilot:

  • which party or stakeholder you represent;
  • which documents it should use;
  • the task you want it to complete;
  • any limits or assumptions it should follow; and
  • the format you want back.

Generate drafting suggestions and comments

You can ask AI Chat to assess a clause, suggest alternative wording and draft a comment explaining the proposed change. The video starts with a request to make wording more client-friendly, then asks whether a clause is market-standard and where a client with limited bargaining power could reasonably push back.

Review the analysis first. Then request the level of change you want, such as a light-touch fallback rather than a complete rewrite. You can also ask DraftPilot to make the supporting comment shorter, less formal or closer to your style before inserting it into Word.

State the jurisdiction, the legal question and how the answer will be used. In the video, the question asks what changes would be needed to the indemnity and liability sections if England and Wales became the governing law.

AI Chat searches DraftPilot’s trusted source network of more than 1,000 links across more than 150 jurisdictions. The network includes primary legislation, secondary sources and trusted commentary. AI Chat does not search the general internet for this work.

Open the source list to see every URL used for the answer.

You can then ask DraftPilot to create drafting suggestions for the clauses it identifies. Edit, accept or reject each suggestion, apply them individually or use Apply All.

Analyse or compare documents

Attach the relevant documents and request a defined output. For example, ask for a table comparing an agreement with its amendments, or a list of obligations assigned to a named party.

For a step-by-step guide, see Compare and analyse multiple documents in a table.

Apply output in Word

Where the option is available, you can apply drafting as tracked changes or insert a table into Word. You choose which output to insert.
