Review a contract without a playbook
Last updated: 2 October 2026
Use Quick Review when you need an initial contract review but do not have a suitable playbook. You provide the role and context for the review, then decide which suggestions to use.
For a specific question or output, or if you want to add additional deal context to your review, use AI Chat instead.
Watch the walkthrough
Start a Quick Review
- Open the contract in Word and open DraftPilot.
- Go to Review and choose Quick Review.
- Tell DraftPilot which party you represent.
- Add useful context, such as the purpose of the agreement, your priorities or any points that should receive particular attention.
- Start the review.
DraftPilot identifies potential issues and applies a risk rating. Select an issue to see why DraftPilot raised it, the proposed wording and a justification comment for the other side. You can edit the suggestion before applying the markup and comment.
Review tracked changes in a later round
If the document already contains tracked changes, select the authors whose changes DraftPilot should assess. Exclude your own team’s changes where appropriate so the review focuses on the counterparty’s edits.
Review the contract with AI Chat
AI Chat is the second route shown in the video. Use it when you want to control the focus and output of the review.
Tell DraftPilot which party you represent and give it the commercial context. For example, you can explain that the agreement is low value, that you want to complete it quickly and that the review should be pragmatic and proportionate.
Ask for the structure you need, such as a prioritised list containing the clause number, why each issue matters and a recommendation. DraftPilot links each point to the relevant part of the document.
You can then request drafting suggestions for the selected issues. Apply each suggestion individually, or use Apply All to insert them together.
