Review markup on your own template
Last updated: 2 October 2026
Use an own-template playbook when a counterparty returns tracked changes to your organisation’s contract template. DraftPilot reviews the counterparty’s changes against the positions, fallbacks and escalation rules in that playbook.

Run the review
- Open the marked-up document in Word and go to Review in the DraftPilot add-in.
- Select the workspace and the relevant own-template playbook.
- Select Start Review and choose Redlines rather than Issues Report.
- Exclude comments and changes from your own team so DraftPilot focuses on the counterparty’s markup.
- Start the review.
Grey sections have no change to review. Red sections contain a change that does not comply with the playbook. Green sections contain a change that DraftPilot considers acceptable, together with an explanation.
Select a highlighted section to open the relevant contract wording beside the playbook. You can restore the original language or choose a more lenient fallback. Suggested wording is editable, and you can accept, reject or refine it before applying the markup and justification comment.
If the counterparty raises an issue the playbook does not cover, DraftPilot may offer more aggressive and more lenient AI-generated drafting options. Review the available context and choose whether to apply either option.
Where the playbook contains an escalation rule, DraftPilot can add an internal comment for the named approver, such as the head of legal. The comment identifies the issue they need to review.
Complete the review
As you complete each section, DraftPilot turns it green. Any escalation comments remain in the document for the named approver.
