Translate Contracts

Last updated: 15 September 2026

DraftPilot makes it easy to translate contracts and other documents into another language, directly from Microsoft Word or the DraftPilot web app.

You can choose between a fully translated document that preserves the original formatting, or a bilingual version with the original and translated text displayed side by side.

How to use it

In Word or the Browser

  1. Open the DraftPilot add-in in Microsoft Word.

  2. Go to Tools → Translate Contract.

  3. Choose the document you want to translate. You can use the document currently open in Word or upload a different file.

  4. Select the language you want to translate the document into.

  5. Choose your preferred output:

    • Translated document: a fully translated version that preserves the original formatting.

    • Bilingual side-by-side: a version showing the original and translated text alongside each other.

  6. Click Translate.

Your translated document will usually be ready in approximately one minute.

Working with translated contracts

Once your document has been translated, you can use DraftPilot to mark up the contract in the relevant language.

DraftPilot can also work with bilingual contracts. For example, you can apply an update to the fees section in both the original and translated versions, and include justification comments in both languages.
